Hotel Alsik

Alsik was designed by Henning Larsen Architects, and will stand as a modern beacon for Sønderborg at a height of 19 storeys and thanks to its outstanding architecture. It is located directly on the harbour front in Alssund, close to the town and countryside. This elegant building’s architecture was inspired by the area around Sønderborg and Alssund, nestling between sloped banks. The landscape is reflected in the two tall buildings of the hotel, which meet at a lower point, from where guests have access to terraces and public areas.  The facade is a modern interpretation of the old brick buildings in Sønderborg. In common with brick, Alsik is built of elements that on one side are uniform, but that can vary and be put together in different ways. The elements are what change character, depending on the distance they are viewed from. At long distance, Alsik appears as a monument, but focus changes the closer you get.
